Purchasing - how to pay, available discounts, VAT issues
Can I purchase both download and boxed ('hard copy') versions of your products?
Sonalksis only supply 'download' versions of our software.
What forms of payment can I use to purchase Sonalksis software?
Our payment processing is handled by PayPal and so we are able to accept most standard forms of credit and debit card payment as well as PayPal payments. If you can not pay by any of the available listed methods, we can accept payment by bank transfer. For more information about how to make a purchase with a bank transfer, please Contact Us
Can I purchase Sonalksis software without paying VAT (sales tax)?
If you are a VAT registered company within the EU (outside of Spain), then you do not need to pay VAT. You should provide your VAT number on the purchase page, and you will be exempt from paying this tax. Customers outside the EU will not be charged sales tax.
Do you offer discounts for students/teachers?
We offer 'educational' licenses, with discounts of 50% on any of our products or bundles, for anyone affiliated with an educational institution. In addition, we can offer further savings on 'site licenses' for educational institutions.
I'm already a registered Sonalksis user - should I login before I make another purchase?
It is better if you login, as you can then purchase through the 'upgrade centre', where you can access upgrades to your existing purchases.
Can I purchase a product for a friend / as a present?
Yes - when you make the purchase, you should enter your friend's details in the 'personal details' section, and then enter your own details within the 'payment details' section.
How can I purchase multiple licenses for you products?

If i purchase one or two products from within a Sonalksis 'bundle, can I upgrade to the full bundle at a later date?
Yes, although depending on the product you may have to pay more than the difference between the bundle price and your original purchase, so it is usually better to purchase a bundle as a whole rather than in stages.
Renting our Software
Why rent?
There are several reasons why you may find it appropriate to rent rather than buy our software. For example, if you don't currently own Sonalksis plug-ins but you have a commercial session on which a client wants to use a Sonalksis processor, you can keep your client happy without going to the full expense of a purchase. Or perhaps you have been evaluating our demo software, but want more time to decide which plug-ins are right for you, then you can explore our software further without having to purchase a full license - and the great thing about renting is that if you subsequently decide that you want to purchase full licenses for your rented plug-ins, you will receive a discount equalling your rental payment, assuming that you purchase within a period of 14 days after your rental expires.
How do rentals work?
When you purchase a Rental, you will receive details of how to login to your Sonalksis user account. You must then activate your rental license from within your account before you can authorise your plugin's. When you install your plugins they will be authorised with your Rental license. Your license will be valid for the rental period, starting from the date of activation. Your rental license can be activated at any time, from within your Sonalksis account.
How do I activate my rental?
Login to your Sonalksis account, and find the product you have rented in the 'My Products' section. If you have not yet activated the rental license, you will see a button displaying 'Activate Rental'. Once you select this, you will be able to install your software (using our plugin manager) and it will be authorised for your rental period.
Do I get a discount if I rent a plug-in and then purchase a full license?
Yes - assuming you upgrade to a full license within 14 days of the expiration of your rental license, your purchase will be discounted by the full rental rate.
How can I upgrade from a 'Rented' product to get the full license?
You need to login to your sonalksis account, and go to the 'upgrade centre'. You will then be able to purchase a license for your product/s. The price displayed will be the full price minus the payment you have already made for your rental, assuming you are upgrading within 14 days of the expiration of your rental license.
Installation, Activation, Upgrades and Updates
What computing platforms do Sonalksis plugins work with?
All Sonalksis plug-ins support both OS X and Windows platforms, and we support Audio Unit (64 and 32 bit), VST (64 and 32 bit), and RTAS (32 bit only) plugin formats. For detailed information on specific system requirements, check out the individual product pages on this website.
What audio hosts will Sonalksis plugins work with?
Our plugins fully support the respective plugin protocols for VST, Audio Unit and RTAS, which means that they should work in any audio host which fully supports these protocols too. We test our plugins in all 'major' audio hosts, however due to the number of different versions of these hosts, we can not maintain full testing of our plugins in all versions, so we generally only test within the most recent versions of an audio host. So for example if we test our plugins within AudioHost 7, and then AudioHost 8 is released, when Sonalksis then update our plugins, we will only test in AudioHost 8.
Do Sonalksis offer free updates to my software?
Sonalksis generally provide updates for free. Updates may include bug fixes, or compatibility enhancements. Any major feature enhancements are usually provided as 'upgrades', for which Sonalksis may charge an upgrade fee.
How do I upgrade my Sonalksis software?
If you have purchased one or two plugins from within a bundle and you want to upgrade to the full bundle, or you want to upgrade from an older version of software to the latest version, you should login to your user account and go to the 'upgrade centre'.
How to I install sonalksis plugins?
All Sonalksis plug-ins are installed via our Plugin Manager. When you login to the plugin manager and your computer is internet-enabled, the manager will search for your licenses and install any software for which you have licenses.
How do I update my Sonalksis software?
All Sonalksis plug-ins are updated via our Plugin Manager. When you login to the plugin manager, if your computer is internet enabled then it will search for updates, and if any are available you will be asked if you want to update.
How do I remove/uninstall Sonalksis plugins?
All Sonalksis plug-ins can be removed via our Plugin Manager.
What copy protection do Sonalksis plugins use?
Sonalksis plugins are 'authorised' on each system onto which you install the software. If your system is internet enabled the authorisation will be transparent. You do not require an iLok. You can however authorise your software on multiple systems.
How do I authorise my Sonalksis products?
If your system is connected to the internet, this process will be 'transparent' - you simply need to provide your registered email address and Sonalksis password when you install the software. If your system is not connected to the internet, you will need to follow the 'challenge/respose' routine when you install the software, and this will require you accessing the Sonalksis website from an internet-enabled machine.
Questions about policies - our licensing details, licence transfers, and our return policy
Do I need to purchase Sonalksis software more than once if I want to use it on different platforms (i.e. Mac and PC)?
No. You license will be valid on both a Mac and PC platform.
Do I need to purchase the software more than once if I want to use it on more than one computer?
No. Your licenses are 'per user', not 'per system'. So as long as all the computers belongs to you and the software will not be used by multiple users simultaneously on different computers, only one license is required.
I need multiple licenses for multiple software users - do I get a discount, and if so how can I purchase a 'site' license?
If you have multiple users on a site simultaneously using different systems (for example a studio suite), you can purchase a 'site license', with large discounts available depending on the number of users. For more information, see Site Licences
If I download the demo versions of your plugins, can I use them on commercial recordings?
According to the terms of our demo license agreement, you can not use the software for commercial purposes during the evaluation period. This means you are not permitted to profit from the use of Sonalksis Software during this period, either explicitly or implicitly. You may however use the Software for the production of materials which are intended to be published or sold at a later date, providing that an appropriate standard license is obtained prior to publication of, or receiving payment for, the material.
Can I sell my Sonalksis plugin licnese?
Yes - we allow a one-time transfer of any 'full' software license purchased from Sonalksis. Note that if you purchased a 'provisional' license (for example a discounted Educational license), you will need to upgrade to a full license before you can make the transfer. Once the license has been transferred, it will become non-resellable. If you wish to transfer your license, you can do so from your user account and you do not need to contact Sonalksis directly.
What is your policy for 'returns'?
Sonalksis offer fully functional evaluation versions of all our software. We therefore allow you (and advise you) to 'try before you buy'. For this reason, we do not offer refunds after purchase.
